Bill & Wanda BlainOur Story
It started with Bill — and Wanda wasn't far behind.
W.M. Blain has helped Northern Nevadans reach pure, crisp water for more than half a century. In 1958, Bill Blain earned his Nevada well-driller's license after years drilling in California.
His wife, Wanda, wasn't about to let Bill be the only driller in the family. She applied for her own license in 1978 — no small thing when women well drillers were unheard of.

Three generations, one standard.
1958
Bill gets licensed
Bill Blain earned his Nevada well-driller's license after years drilling in California. He set out to drill wells right — the business came after.
1978
Wanda makes history
The contractors board doubted a woman could do the work. Governor O'Callaghan didn't. Wanda became the first licensed woman well driller in Nevada.
1996
The next generation
Wanda's son, Tom Benedict, took over the family business — taught from an early age that doing what's right isn't always doing what's easy.
Today
Still family-run
Tom Benedict runs the shop and still answers the phone. Three generations in, same family, same standard: drill it right, and stand behind it.

Bill didn't set out to build a multigenerational business. He set out to drill wells right — proper casing, proper screen, pumps sized to the well. The reputation, and the family business, came after.
Wanda spent the next twenty years drilling alongside Bill and raising her son, Tom Benedict, on a simple principle: doing what's right is not always doing what's easy. Tom took over in 1996 and runs the shop today — that's still how we work.
